ODE is the genre-blending and personal short film by Danish artist Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl. The narrative circulates around the killing of Mejdahl's abusive father. Through the language of the musical and the horror genre Mejdahl and the rest of his family document their traumatic past. As they take turns singing elegies about the deceased, the family creates a fictional vendetta and mimics the role of the abuser, which the father once used to possess.

Lasting more than one hour, DAYS OF AL is Mejdahl’s most comprehensive film work to date, accompanied by a soundtrack of experimental electronic music created under the artist’s musician alias Kim Kim.

The artist lies half-naked on a forest floor, facing the viewer while gently singing. On his body rests a throng of colorful moths whose fluttering wings generate a melody attuned to the song.
With its prolonged visual intro and lyrical song, Hour of Moth (Etude no. II) takes the form of a music video where Mejdahl himself is both the singer and songwriter. The work is a love song to the angel of the night—the moth—but also a yearning and sensual hymn to all nature.

In the video we witness a heated dialogue between the artist and his shit in the toilet, who desperately argues for its role in his artistic practice. Their absurd dialogue gradually becomes the subconscious inner voice of the struggling artist.

This video-poem is about existential loneliness, but also on how to find solace in the spiritual aspects of nature. Made as part of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation series on artists (The Artist Colony on Bornholm Island).
A creature exits a cave and find its friend in the shape of a huge ice cream lying on the roof of a church. All lyrics consist of anagrams created solely from the word ‘solitaire’.
